“I’m grateful my child is healthy and strong today. That said, our experience here was mixed. My son was transferred here after receiving excellent care at Harborview Medical Center which will always have my respect and gratitude. Unfortunately, because they didn’t have the necessary pediatric equipment, he was sent to Seattle Children’s Hospital, where he was placed on ECMO in February 2024. Some nurses and doctors were compassionate, professional, and supportive, and I truly appreciate them. However, a few ICU nurses on shifts around 2/1/24 - 2/8/24 were dismissive, rude, and lacked basic empathy toward a parent with a critically ill child. What was most concerning was the hospital social worker allowing a person who I had an active protective order against to wander the hospital when he was not permitted to be there. This was a serious safety issue and added unnecessary emotional distress during an already overwhelming time. I was exhausted, emotionally drained, and focused solely on staying strong for my son while he fought for his life. No parent in that situation should have to deal with poor attitudes or boundary violations. ICU staff should receive better training in communication, professionalism, and family-centered care especially when working with parents in crisis. I’m thankful for the good staff we encountered, which is why I gave the rating that I did, but some employees should strongly reconsider working in pediatric critical care if they cannot treat families with respect and compassion.”
“Outstanding Children’s Hospital in Seattle. We had an exceptional experience at the children’s hospital in Seattle. The medical staff is truly the best incredibly professional, compassionate, and attentive. The way they treat both children and parents is simply unbelievable. Our child underwent a complex hip surgery, and from the very first consultation to the postoperative care, we felt completely supported and confident. The doctors are highly skilled and knowledgeable, and the nurses showed endless kindness, patience, and genuine care. Their professionalism combined with sincere compassion made a very difficult time much easier for our family. We are deeply grateful to everyone involved and cannot thank them enough for their dedication and outstanding care. We highly recommend this hospital to any family in need of pediatric medical care.”
“My son recently had oral surgery at the Bellevue clinic, and we had a great experience. We usually go to the Seattle location, but the Bellevue clinic was really wonderful as well. All of the staff were nice, welcoming, and very friendly. They answered all of our questions and took the time to explain the after-surgery care clearly and patiently. We felt very supported throughout the whole process. Highly recommend!”
“Our daughter was transferred here from our town hospital (3 hours away). The staff here in Forest B Floor 8 are tremendously welcoming, sweet, understanding, helpful, caring, gentle and just awesome. The surgical team, anesthesia team, pre op team, post op team are wonderful, kind, gentle and caring. The whole hospital is clean! Staff from other areas of the hospital seem welcoming and kind. This is our first time here and experiencing what we are, the staff are amazing!! Nothing but good to say. ❤️💜💙💚💛”
